Five ELE teachers from Italy, who teach in institutes in the Piedmont region, have received a scholarship this summer from the Kiwanis Augusta Taurinorum Cultural Association, through ELE USAL Turin, to expand their teaching skills in an intensive one-week course in International Courses at the University of Salamanca.
ELE TEACHERS: FROM TURIN TO SALAMANCA
Our director of ELE USAL Torino, Monica Bedana, made the selection in a series of meetings with the candidates, evaluating attitudes such as interest in multiculturalism, the capacity for cooperation, intellectual curiosity, willingness to experiment with new teaching practices and to contribute their own ideas. to teaching. This intensive training course has provided the five teachers not only with new methodologies, but also with the possibility to exchange knowledge and experiences with the many teachers of different nationalities who participated in the course.
The scholarship included, in addition to the intensive classes in the morning -taught with the methodology of the University of Salamanca, which is endorsed by more than ninety years of experience in ELE training-, cultural activities in the afternoon (visits to museums and monuments of the city, literary routes and, even, tapas) and the stay in a university residence, with full board.
The professors thoroughly enjoyed their stay both academically and on a human level, discovering and experiencing the culture of Salamanca, a World Heritage City, and that of our University. From this moment on, Francesca, Valeria, Vincenzo, Ester and Yousef will continue with Kiwanis scholarships in other ELE USAL Torino training courses, to complete their teaching profile with our methodology.
It only remains for us to thank the effort and professionalism of Monica Bedana, director of ELE USAL in Turin, and her commitment to continue carrying out initiatives of this type. And, of course, to thank these five professors for their dedication and good work in the profession, to which they dedicate a large part of their lives and in which they will never stop improving, to offer their students knowledge at the highest level.
