Spanish course – Secondary and High School

Cursos de español en ELE USAL Strasbourg

Description

Spanish course – Secondary et High School. The tutoring at ELE USAL Strasbourg is a personalized help dedicated to high school students who wish to improve their level in Spanish (LVA, LVB and LVC) with qualified and native teachers.

Whether your child is in secondary school or high school, our school offers support courses adapted to the official LvA / LvB / LvC Spanish teaching programme in secondary school and high school. The courses are given in small classes (between 3 and 6 students) and are taught by a qualified teacher, respecting the school calendar in order to offer them adapted and effective formulas. Spanish courses for 11-18 year olds in Strasbourg offer the possibility for children and teenagers to deepen their knowledge of the world in the Hispanic language and culture. The aim is to communicate in various situations, to acquire vocabulary, principles of pronunciation and grammatical structures. The courses are adapted to your child, whatever his/her age or level.

The cultural content defined by the programme guides the choice of lexicon. The lexicon and grammar are always approached from documents and always in connection with a context of use. However, in the lycée, the greater intellectual maturity of the pupils allows them to develop a reasoned and more systematised approach to the various components of the language, i.e. lexicon, grammar, phonology and spelling. The variety of the documents used offers a great lexical wealth, mainly in recognition, but also in context of use. In this way, the student’s vocabulary is enriched. Thus, vocabulary acquisition does not consist of learning isolated words: vocabulary is studied in context and according to the needs of communication, which makes it possible to understand how words fit syntactically into the statement.

In the perspective of the acquisition of a modern language, the study of grammar is not an end in itself; it is one of the tools which allow the handling of the language to be made more complex and perfected, and to enrich thinking. It is by progressing in the understanding of the mechanisms of the language that the student becomes increasingly autonomous. From the documents dealt with in class, the pupil is led to discover the rules of use of the language, to identify the points of syntax or morphology constituting the document, in order to appropriate them.

In addition, the teaching of Spanish (as well as that of any other modern language) must allow students to be part of a dynamic whole. They are encouraged to increase their exposure to the language outside of class time: watching films, documentary series, radio (via the internet), various sources in their original version thanks to mobile tools (smartphones, tablets).

In class, the teacher favours setting up projects based on teaching scenarios which articulate the exercises, contextualise them and gradually lead to written or oral productions.

One of the important parts of this Spanish language course is the development of an intercultural awareness of the Hispanic world. To become aware of cultural diversity and how it can influence our world view. To begin to realise that even if the language is one language, the culture is immense and beautiful. Each country has something to give us, each Hispanic variety implies a way of life to discover. In the Spanish course for secondary school students, students will learn to recognise this diversity and to know the different habits and ways of life of the Hispanic world. Thus, they will develop strategies to become familiar with this diversity. They will have access to samples of each culture, know the Hispanic historical heritage and also the values and norms of each culture.

In order to achieve this, mixed pedagogical approaches focusing on communication are aimed at. Oral expression is very important here, because we know that the main goal of learning is to communicate. The proposed activities will confront you each time with a real communicative situation so that you can really feel your progress during the training. Written compression also plays an important role. Written expression is also developed in a more independent way.
