Visita del representante de la USAL a la sede de XI’AN
On November 6, 2019, Mr. José Miguel Sánchez Llorente as representative of the University of Salamanca and ELE USAL Spanish Language Schools, together with Mr. Xiaolin Yan, as the highest representative of ELE USAL Xi'an, visited the Shiyou University.
In addition, a meeting was held in meeting room number 2 of the YANTA campus with the participation of the vice chancellor, Junbin Chen, the head of the Department of International Relations, Suli Yan, and the head of the Department of Foreign Languages, Yanying Yu.
Vice Chancellor Don Junbin Chen warmly welcomed all the visitors, mentioning the importance and necessity of companies such as SINOPEC and Petrochina in the development of the western market. Likewise, it should be noted that the Shiyou Xi'An University began teaching the Spanish language in 1997 to this day. With the deepening of China's reform and opening up, and the implementation of the "New Silk Road", a large number of Chinese oil and petrochemical companies have expanded their business in Spanish-speaking countries, since, in South America , there is a great demand for personnel who speak this language.
Shiyou University is the only university in Northwest China, which is specialized in the oil industry and petrochemical products, being of great importance to establish a Hispanic Center of the University of Salamanca in this university. In this way, a strong bond of professionals who know both the professional skills of the sector and the development of these abilities and skills in the Spanish language will be created.
The vice-chancellor maintains the hope that the two universities carry out comprehensive cooperation, building a new collaborative educational environment, not only at the linguistic level, but also on the Spanish cultural level to improve the level of cooperation and exchange between the University Shiyou Xi'an and Spain.
Mr. José Miguel Sánchez Llorente expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and presented the history of the University of Salamanca, the state of the teachers and the characteristics of the operation of the school. He mentioned that the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language has been a specialty of the University of Salamanca for more than 90 years. Every year, more than 8,000 students from more than 100 countries study Spanish at the University of Salamanca. Likewise, Sánchez Llorente hopes to deepen the cooperation between the University of Salamanca and the Shiyou Xi'an University to cultivate high-level Spanish talent for China.
During the visit, the conference "Introducing the possibility of opening an ELE University of Salamanca school in Xi'an" was held at the Yanta and Huyi Campuses with the aim that students feel the charm of the University of Salamanca and learning of the Spanish language.
This conference offered students a comprehensive understanding of Spanish and a strong interest in learning the language of Cervantes. After the conference, many students went to the Instituto de Lengua Española to consult the courses offered, hoping that it will start working from the first days of December 2019.
